WordSpell Privacy Policy

WordSpell is an offline learning app for young ASL fingerspelling learners.

Camera and recognition

• Recognition runs on the device.
• Camera frames are processed live and are not stored or uploaded.
• Hand landmarks and MediaPipe coordinates are not stored or shared.
• Recognition models are bundled with the app.

Accounts, ads, analytics, and purchases

WordSpell has no accounts, advertising, behavioral analytics, automatic telemetry, or in-app purchases.

Feedback and diagnostics

Difficulty ratings are optional and stored locally. External feedback requires an adult check and opens the device email composer. Nothing is sent until the user sends it. Sanitized diagnostic logs can be attached only after an adult check and explicit confirmation.

Logs may contain performance rates, device and app versions, game modes, collection and word identifiers, outcomes, scores, mistakes, and high-level failures. They never contain camera frames, images, video, audio, landmarks, coordinates, account data, unrestricted Logcat, or free-form in-app text.

Diagnostics are stored in three rotating app-private files of at most 256 KB each, and records older than seven days are removed. One sanitized fatal crash report may be stored locally and offered for sharing or deletion on the next launch. WordSpell never uploads reports automatically.
